The household savings rate rises to 5.2% in the third quarter



The rate of household savings stood at 5.2% of disposable income in the third quarter of the year, which is an increase of two tenths over the previous quarter, according to data published today by the National Institute of Statistics (INE).

If seasonal and calendar effects were taken into account, this savings rate would be -1.2% of disposable income in the third quarter, compared to -0.7% in the same period of 2017, according to data from the Non-Financial Quarterly Accounts of the Institutional Sectors.

In the third quarter of the year, the gross disposable income of households stood at 171,461 million, 3.8% more than in the same period last year.
