The ham sector designs its own shield against imitations from third countries

No one doubts that Serrano ham is one of the most exquisite and internationally recognized Spanish delicacies, at the same level as olive oil. However, the inexplicable low rating given by Nutriscore labeling driven by the European Comission it has brought back to the present a sector that is conspiring to raise a shield against the imitations of third countries. Specifically, the professional organizations Anice (Spanish National Association of Meat Industries) and Fecic (Business Federation of Meat and Meat Industries) promote the creation of the Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) of Serrano Ham, with the aim of strengthening legal protection inside and outside the European Union
