The Government urges banks to guarantee the financial inclusion of the elderly

The First Vice President and Minister of Economic Affairs, Nadia Calviño, met this Thursday with representatives of the three banking employers (AEB, CECA and Unacc) to demand a plan to guarantee the financial inclusion of the elderly. As reported by the Ministry in a statement, the Government's "concern" on this issue has been transferred to them and data has been requested on the effectiveness of the measures applied by the sector.
It has been agreed that an Observatory for Financial Inclusion carry out a diagnosis of the situation and the employers have committed themselves within a month to provide new solutions that guarantee the access of older people to banking services. The meeting takes place after a record year in closing of offices and dismissal of workers in the financial sector, justified by the entities as a transition towards digital media.
