Theexpansion of paternity leaveIt will enter into force as of April 1, as confirmed by the Vice President of the Government Carmen Calvo, after the publication in the Official State Gazette of the Royal Decree-Law of urgent measures to ensure equality between women and men in employment.
The decree will enter this Friday, March 8 in force, except for Article 2; paragraph three of article 3; and paragraphs seven and eight of article 7 that will do so "on the first day of the month following the publication". Within these articles is theregulation of casualties by patency.
Carmen Calvo has justified, in an interview in RNE collected by Europa Press, the delay in the entry into force of this part of the decree in the need ofgrant more time to companies to adapt. It was the vice president herself who announced last Friday that the extension of paternity leave would take effect on March 5, but the government has been delaying the publication of the decree. This Wednesday he said that it had not been published due to an error in the text that had to be corrected.
