The Government of Japan decides to raise the alert throughout the country

The Government of Japan decided today to lift the state of cononavirus health alert in Tokyo and four other prefectures in the country, the last ones where this exceptional measure applied to stop the pandemic was still in force.
The lifting of the alert has been supported by the group of experts that advises the Government and will be formally approved by the Executive this Monday, according to the Minister of Economic Revitalization and head of the working group to coordinate the fight against the virus, Yasutoshi Nishimura.
The Japanese authorities have made this decision after taking into account the number of infections and the health system situation in Tokyo, in three neighboring prefectures (Chiba, Kanagawa and Saitama) and in Hokkaido (north), the only ones where the state of emergency declared more than a month ago to control the pandemic.
