The draft of the Housing Law will return to the Council of Ministers in 2022 and not this December 28, the last Council of the year, as anticipated by the Minister of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda, Raquel Sánchez. The minister already said in an interview with elDiario.es that they were awaiting a report on the norm from the General Council of the Judiciary.
Sources from his Ministry have confirmed to Europa Press that the regulations will not be among the points of the last Council of Ministers of 2021, waiting for the CGPJ to issue its mandatory report on the matter.
The Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda portfolio indicates that they still do not know the date of the pronouncement of the CGPJ, but they maintain that it should not take long.
On December 10, at the press conference after the Council of Ministers that day, Sánchez assured that the draft would return to the Council before the end of the year.
The text was approved on October 26, in first reading, in the Council of Ministers, and then passed to the public information period.
The coalition government saved with the agreement of the Housing Law the last obstacle so that United We can give a good look to the General State Budgets (PGE) for 2022.
The Executive's text includes the regulation of the rental price in stressed market areas, bonuses to encourage small owners to lower rents to tenants and measures to promote the public housing stock, among other measures.
However, it is not expected that the Housing Law will be approved, with its parliamentary procedure, until the second half of 2022.
