The Government approves 1,900 million for the energy rehabilitation of buildings and social rent

The Government has approved a new item of 1,900 million euros for aid housing rehabilitation and social rental by European funds. This was announced by the Minister of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda, Raquel Sánchez, at the press conference after the Council of Ministers. Public support will go to all communities, in addition to Ceuta and Melilla.

Sánchez explained that the transfer criteria have been agreed jointly with the autonomous communities in a Sectorial Conference, while at the same time ensuring that a new conference will be convened in the coming weeks to address "address this transfer and gradually consolidate each of the the communities".

With these 1,900 million investment, the Government estimates that around 180,000 jobs will be created and that it will have a great impact on the self-employed and SMEs, "which are usually dedicated to this type of action." In addition, Sánchez also pointed out that the rehabilitation of these buildings will mean a consumption saving of at least 30%.

However, the Minister of Transport has underlined that 75% of the resources destined for rehabilitation and 100% for the promotion of social rental housing have already been launched.
