The General Comptroller of the Generalitat, Rosa Vidal, today referred to the statements of the former Minister of Finance Cristóbal Montoro to deny before the judge that the Government will allocate public money to 1-O and has ensured that this was clear from the accounting documentation that she supervised.
According to legal sources informed Efe, Vidal, who certified before the judge that the Generalitat had not spent a euro of public money in 1-O, has declared as an investigation before the judge of Barcelona that investigates the preparations for the referendum, together to other positions of the Catalan government.
The General Comptroller, career officer, explained that when in April 2017 the Constitutional Court suspended the independence referendum, it blocked all the items that the Catalan government had approved to organize the consultation, in order to prevent them from being used.
As of that moment, the Comptroller has added the accounting documentation and expenditure records of the Generalitat that she oversees, not a single item destined to organize the referendum, as former Finance Minister Cristóbal Montoro himself stated. that he knew.
However, the Intervener has specified that if those files he supervised were falsified to cover expenses of the referendum, it was beyond his control.
