The Attorney General’s Office opens an internal investigation into the alleged pressure on Navajas in the complaints against the Government
The Fiscal Council, which is the advisory body in which the associations of prosecutors who obtained this position in elections held in the race are represented, met in a first session this Tuesday.
The Prosecutor’s Office lives somewhat convulsive moments after the Supreme Court’s Deputy Prosecutor, Luis Navajas, who is the number two of the State Attorney General, Dolores Delgado, revealed that two fellow prosecutors from the High Court “ideologically contaminated” they tried to “influence” him on how it had to act in relation to the complaints filed against the Government for the management of COVID-19, tax sources have advanced to elDiario.es.
This Tuesday, the State Attorney General’s Office announced the opening of a “prior information procedures” to analyze the “serious” facts “revealed”. The person in charge of investigating the alleged pressures revealed by Navajas, will be the chief prosecutor of the Fiscal Inspection, Fausto Cartagena, an independent position from the attorney general.
The Fiscal Council is chaired by Delgado and both Navajas – who was absent from this Tuesday’s meeting – and Cartagena are ex-officio members.
