The Casino of Barcelona hosted the night of this Thursday July 11 the gala of the First edition of the QuèFem awards?, the supplement of culture, leisure and entertainment published by La Vanguardia every Friday for 21 years. The act was led by the comedian Pep Plaza and was attended by numerous representatives of the cultural world of Catalonia.
In this first edition of the awards, they considered 13 categories with three finalists each and for a month, readers of the website of 'La Vanguardia' were able to vote for their favorites.
Enric Sierra, deputy director of La Vanguardia, opened the awards ceremony explaining the reason for the announcement of these awards and indicated that it is "recognizing the daily effort made by the culture, leisure and entertainment sector to improve its offer and seduce the viewers and users. " In this sense, Sierra affirmed that the supplement QuèFem? it is the ideal engine of this initiative since it is an editorial content that speaks weekly about cultural activities.
Sònar won the Cava Vallformosa award for the best music festival for "becoming a world-class musical event thanks to a very careful offer that combines the playful dimension with the artistic, the avant-garde and the experimentation with the new currents of electronics" . Marta Vidal, CEO of Vallformosa presented the award to Ricard Robles and Enric Palau, founders and co-directors of Sònar.
Sitges won the Martini Fiero award for the best film festival "for being the first competition in the world in fantasy films that gathers new formats and genres every year and is capable of turning an entire city into a great film set". The director of the festival, Xavier Duran, picked up the prize from Josep Maria Bardají, director of Communication at Bacardí Iberia.
The Sala Apolo won the Ford prize for the best music venue "because for 75 years it has remained a place in the Barcelona night, where 11,000 groups and 5,500 DJs and producers have passed." Its director, Albert Guijarro, thanked the recognition by receiving the award given to him by Aitor Muniozguren, Ford's sales manager in Catalonia.
In the CCIB category for the best cinema, the guard went to Cines Verdi "because for 30 years it is an essential place for moviegoers and offers cycles at popular prices". The award was given by Marc Rodríguez, general manager of the CCIB.
The L'Illa prize for the best theater was won by Antic Teatre "for being one of the current icons of the independent live arts scene". Andrés Torres, assistant manager of the shopping center, presented the prize to Julijana Tomic, artistic director of the Antic Teatre.
The Quèfem? Frit Ravich to the best cocktail bar was awarded to the Paradiso "for being a clandestine place full of magic where cocktails are protagonists in an environment with exquisite interior design". Judith Viader, general director of Frit Ravich presented the award to Lito Valdovinos, manager of the Grup Confiteria that manages the bar.
The Casino Barcelona prize for the best restaurant went to Enjoy "for having become a tireless laboratory of flavors and textures". Faustino Sabatini, Hospitality Director of Casino Barcelona, presented the award to Eduard Xatruch, chef of the Enjoy.
Albert Cirujeda, general director of Catànies Cudié, presented the prize for the best artistic event to Llum BCN Poblenou "for being a festival that invites visitors to stroll among installations, graffiti and level performances". Maria Güell, curator of the festival received the award.
The MesQHotels prize for the best hotel was taken by Mandarin Oriental Barcelona "for its passion for gastronomy, the cult of well-being and the participative workshops that seduce its visitors". The award was received by Mónica Homedes, director of communication at the hotel from Manel Casals, general director of the Gremi d'Hotels de Barcelona.
While the Torrons Vicens prize for the best shopping initiative was for L'Illa Diagonal "for knowing how to update itself with new stores, exhibitions and art shows, as well as welcoming children's activities". Adrià Gil, personal assistant of the CEO of Torrons Vicens, was in charge of giving the award to Ainhoa Izuel, marketing director of the L'Illa Shopping Center.
The Politours award for the best drink went to Dewar's 15 "for being a very original blend of high quality whiskeys with an intense flavor and oak notes". The award was presented by Juan José Donaire, commercial director of Politours en Catalunya and Andorra, to Paula Caparrós, marketing manager of Bacardí Iberia.
The Catalana de Toldos prize, awarded by its director Maria Teresa Perera to the best family initiative, was taken by the Fundació Mona "to convert this animal rehabilitation and rescue center for abused chimpanzees and macaques into an educational and playful activity for children". On behalf of the foundation, the director Olga Feliu received the award.
And finally, the La Roca Village award for the best destination was for Menorca, was given by Anna Crespo, comunication manager of La Roca Village. The award was obtained "for wanting to get rid of the sun and beach destination and betting on its talayotic culture".
