The Festivalito La Palma pays tribute to Sergi Lpez, Rodrigo Bellot and El Viaje Films – La Provincia


The fifteenth edition of the Festivalito La Palma – Festival of the Stars reinforces its socio-educational and cultural aspect in the framework of the “new normal”, which allows it to be held this summer from August 1 to 8 between Los Llanos de Aridane and Santa Cruz de La Palma, with the actor Catalan Sergi López, Bolivian filmmaker Rodrigo Bellot and Canarian producer El Viaje Films as honored with the Polar Star of the 2020 Festivalito.

This was announced yesterday by its director, José Víctor Fuentes, at a press conference at the headquarters of the Cabildo de La Palma, together with his Minister for Culture and Heritage, Jovita Monterrey; the counselor of tourism and Sports, Raúl Camacho; the general director of Culture of the Government of the Canary Islands, Rubén Perez; the Deputy Minister for Culture and Cultural Heritage of the Canary Islands Government, Juan Márquez; the councilor for Culture of Los Llanos de Aridane, Charo González; and the councilor of Santa Cruz de La Palma, Bernardo López.

The organization of the event announced that this edition places the importance of social, educational and cultural values ​​that can be transmitted through the movie theater, as well as the value of culture as an instrument not only to generate leisure activities, but also as a channel for reactivating the local economy and promoting tourism. In addition, the team works closely with the company Evento 7 to carry out a celebration with all the safety and hygiene measures, such as limited capacity indoors, distance measures outdoors, hydroalcoholic gel dispensers at strategic points, measures hygiene and distance from spectators, etc.

Fuentes encourages this citnematographic, one of the first to be held in the crisis of the Covid-19Because “at the Festivalito, cinema is for all audiences: from those who seek simple fun to those who yearn for the most rabid and non-conformist author cinema,” he said. “If anything is clear, it is that the health crisis represents an opportunity for reinvention for cultural events. We are implementing a whole arsenal of hygiene and safety measures, because health comes first. And on the other hand, we do not want to lose nor see altered our essence, which is to create a cinematographic meeting place and coexistence between creators and lovers of the seventh art, “he added.

Activities

The Festivalito has already opened the registration period for one of its most acclaimed sections, La Palma Wheel, an express film shooting contest, whose term extends until Friday, July 24.

In addition, as in previous editions, open-air screenings will also be held, including several films nominated for the Goya Awards, a film awarded two prizes at the last Venice Film Festival, and several films that are Premiere International. And in the formative aspect there will be no lack of training courses, talks, workshops and colloquia with Canarian filmmakers about cinema and ICT.
