The Spanish Football Federation (FEF) will request, "in the next few days", to appear in the open case in a court in Sanlúcar de Barrameda (Cádiz) for the so-called 'Operation Conifer', which has allowed the dismantling of an organization dedicated to match-fixing matches in First and Second RFEF and the Gibraltar National League. The dismantling of the plot has resulted in 21 detainees, twelve of them active soccer players from six modest teams in Andalusia and Extremadura, who are accused of having defrauded more than 500,000 euros.

The body chaired by Luis Rubiales has congratulated the General Directorate for the Regulation of Gambling (CGOJ) and the National Police Center for Integrity in Sports and Betting (Cenpida), "for the development of the operation, which started from an alert transmitted by the Department of Integrity and Security of the FEF ", according to what the federal entity highlighted this Friday.

“That alert, in the month of May 2021, was transmitted by the FEF Integrity Department to the DGOJ, who in turn transferred it to the Cenpida of the National Police. This police unit is the one that has carried out the actions that are now known by the Investigating Court 4 of Sanlúcar. The FEF wants, therefore, to convey its congratulations to both the DGOJ and Cenpida, highlighting the importance of collaboration between sports institutions and entities to defend the cleanliness of sports competitions, especially football competitions, "says the Spanish Federation to through a statement.

The FEF recalls that, together with 19 territorial federations in Spain, "carries out various protection actions in Spanish football throughout the season." “Among them, the Integrity training given to players, coaches and referees of all football, both male and female and futsal stands out. The non-professional football betting plot was dismantled by the National Police, with the collaboration of Interpol and Europol, whose joint operation has made it possible to arrest 21 people in Seville, Cádiz, Almería and Badajoz, and investigate another six. «The organization was made up of two men linked to the world of professional football, footballers who took advantage of their profession to provide privileged information, brokers who provided identities to operate in the online game and mules who went to gambling halls to make pre-fixed sports bets and collect the prizes obtained, ”the National Police announced on Wednesday.

The detainees are accused of alleged crimes of belonging to a criminal organization, corruption between individuals in the sports field and fraud against gaming operators. The alleged ringleader of the plot, according to the Police, would be a CD Rota player, along with a person linked to Atlético Sanluqueño, which in the recent season has dropped from First to Second RFEF and has several players among those arrested.
