For this reason and three weeks before the general elections, the collective of friends, family and colleagues of the Galician chamber José Couso, killed by US troops in Baghdad on April 8, 2003, has called a rally in front of the US embassy. noon on next Sunday, April 7.
The journalist Ana Pardo de Vera, editor of the newspaper Público, the activist Justa Montero, a feminist reference, and José's mother, Maribel Permuy, will participate in the act. There will also be performances by Samba da Rua and Tremenda Jauría.

The relatives of Couso recalled that after the reform of the Universal Justice 1/2014, which entailed the file of the case, they filed an appeal with the Supreme Court, which confirmed the closure of the investigation.
However, an appeal for amparo was filed with the Constitutional Court in February 2017, alleging the unconstitutionality of the reform and breach of the Geneva Convention; a resource that is still pending resolution.
At the end of 2018 the Couso family met with the parliamentary groups to address the future of the investigation, after ERC presented a bill aimed at reviewing the reforms approved by the governments of the PSOE and the PP, which limited the application in Spain of universal jurisdiction.
The parliamentary groups then announced an agreement to "unblock" the revision of Universal Justice, with the PP open to "correct" said reform.
