The Council, the institution representing the EU countries, said in a statement that the restrictive measures consist of a ban on travel to the EU and the freezing of the assets that those people and that company may have on community territory.

They also contemplate a veto on exports to Iran of equipment that can be used for "internal repression", as well as to control telecommunications.

The EU imposed these sanctions in 2011 and has subsequently extended them year after year.
