The end of the course, again to debate this Wednesday by the Government and communities

The prospects for the end of the course in the face of the situation created by the coronavirus pandemic will be studied this Wednesday at the telematic meeting of the General Commission of Education, between the Secretary of State for Education, Alejandro Tiana, and vice-councilors of all the CCAA.

According to education sources, this meeting is held prior to the Sectorial Conference on Education that on April 15 will be chaired by the Minister of Education and Vocational Training, Isabel Celaá, and in which the education advisers of all the Autonomous Communities participate.

The General Committee on the 8th will address, among other issues, the prospects for the end of the 2019-2020 course in the context of the current health situation.

This Tuesday, the State School Council has asked that only what has been given in class be evaluated, as well as avoiding repetition of the course and keeping the school calendar approved at the beginning of it.

A request shared by the Murcian Ministry of Education, which has announced that it will ask the ministry that the evaluation of all compulsory and post-compulsory education be carried out on the contents that have been taught in person before the start of the suspension of the teaching activity.

In addition, this week the Student Union has demanded the cancellation of all exams, including those for the University entrance exam (EBAU), that all students pass the course and reorganize the study plans to recover, when can, lost essential content.

The Syndical Union of Education Inspectors (USIE) has also spoken out, which has demanded “to establish the end of face-to-face teaching as soon as possible” and has stated that they are not in favor of extending the school calendar beyond June 30.

Confinement affects more than 8,200,000 students and 712,000 teachers in schools and colleges.
