The European Handball Federation has granted the direct pass to the third round of the EHF Cup to the Rocasa Gran Canaria, after having the double meeting between the Telde team and Westfriesland SEW postponed this Thursday of the second day of the competition.
This decision has been made before “the inability to find a date to play postponed matches yesterday, consequently applying Article 21 of the EHF Legal Regulations, before which the Dutch team may file an appeal if they wish, “explains Rocasa in a statement.
Both teams had agreed to hold the double tie in the Netherlands in order to save costs, as the Dutch had to keep a ten-day quarantine upon their return from Gran Canaria.
Before the restrictions of the health authorities in the Netherlands, the EHF canceled the meeting upon reaching the conclusion that “it is not feasible to postpone these matches”, although it regrets having to make qualifying decisions in the offices and not on the pitch, the Teldense team details in the note.
In this way, the European body has declared Rocasa Gran Canaria classified for the next phase of this competition and will enter the hype of the draw for the third round of the EHF Cup, which will take place on Tuesday, October 20 in Vienna.
