The EC investigates whether the loan of 400 million to Alitalia is state aid
The European Commission (EC) on Friday opened an investigation to assess whether the loan of 400 million euros, granted by the Italian authorities to the airline Alitalia, constitutes a State aid and if it complies with the rules on state support to companies in difficulties.
In a statement, the Community Executive points out that the opening of the file falls within the standards and now provides Italy and other interested parties with the opportunity to give their views.
In addition, he added that he does not prejudge the results of the investigations.
