The cyclist Alejandro Valverde, hit by a driver who flees

His team, Movistar Team, has confirmed that the Murcian cyclist must spend 24 hours under observation at the Hopsital

Alejandro Valverde, hit by a car that fled in Javalí Viejo, in Murcia. The cyclist was injured after the collision, which took place on Saturday morning on the RM-560 road in the aforementioned Murcian district.

His team, Movistar Team, has confirmed through its official Twitter account that the cyclist "does not have fractures or serious injuries." In addition, they assure that he "will remain under observation for 24 hours and will later be discharged."

The vehicle hit Valverde and another cyclist, his teammate. Neither the driver nor the passenger car could be identified. The 42-year-old cyclist from Murcia was treated on the spot by the ambulance paramedics and later transferred to the Virgen de La Arrixaca University General Hospital.

According to 112, he has a "hematoma/trauma" although his injuries are not serious. As for the other affected, who was slightly injured, he was also treated at the scene by the toilets and later transferred to the same hospital. Movistar Team has confirmed that he is also fine.

Local police officers from the Murcia City Council and an ambulance from the Emergency Management and Health Emergencies 061 (an ambulance from the Emergency Service) have traveled to the scene of the event.
