The Cuyás Theater has put on sale in the last hours new tickets for the play A moonless night, written and starring Juan Diego Botto and which is scheduled this Friday and Saturday at 7.30 pm at the Cabildo site. Earlier, on Thursday, at 7:00 p.m., Botto will hold a meeting with the public in the framework of the Thursday of the Cuyás, theatrical outreach initiative that returns to the agenda of this Gran Canaria venue after several months of hiatus due to the pandemic.
Thus, they will be able to acquire their seats for Friday and Saturday who in the last days had seen how the tickets for the respective functions were already sold out. In any case, the safety and hygiene measures against Covid-19 decreed by the health authorities for the current level of alarm will be respected, including those related to the capacity of the room, which will continue to be below the 55% allowed in the level 3 in force in Gran Canaria.
Directed by Sergio Peris-Mencheta, A moonless night is a work on texts by Federico García Lorca, “a moving and surprising piece” that, according to those responsible, aims to bring closer, from the sensibility of the 21st century and as if Federico himself were among us, little-known aspects of Lorca’s life and work, recovering fragments of interviews, talks, conferences, works and poems by the Granada-born author. However, the trip that the show proposes is not an archaeological trip, but a way of knowing our own reality through García Lorca.
Thus, “with much irony, emotion and a sense of humor, the author recounts his time at the Student Residence, the criticisms received by Yerma, her experience in La Barraca, her relationship with the press, her loves, the tension of her last years, and with all this she brings us closer to issues such as the role of women under her always poetic and vindictive gaze, the need for artistic freedom and of expression, the fight for the freedom of sexual identity, or the importance of memory and roots ”.
Tickets for the functions scheduled for Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. (advance schedule due to the curfew decreed by Covid-19), are on sale at the Cuyás Theater box office, on Viera and Clavijo streets. of the capital of Gran Canaria, as on its website: www.teatrocuyas.com.
