The number of new mercantile companies in the Community of Madrid rose by 18.3 percent in August compared to the same month of 2017, to add 1,336 companies, while business solutions increased 16.5 percent, to total 445, according to the data released Tuesday by the National Institute of Statistics (INE).
In general terms, the number of new mercantile companies fell by 0.7 percent, to add 5,871 companies, while business solutions increased by 10.1 percent, to 1,352. With the decline of August, the creation of companies returns to negative territory after having risen 3.5 percent in July.
19.2 percent of the mercantile companies created in August are dedicated to trade and 15.9 percent to real estate, financial and insurance companies. As for the companies dissolved by main economic activity, 18.8 percent corresponded to trade and 17.3 percent to industry and energy.
For the constitution of the 5,871 companies created in August, almost 249 million euros were subscribed, representing a decrease of 4.6 percent compared to the same month in 2017, while the average capital subscribed, which stood at 42,396 euros, fell by 4 percent in the interannual rate.
MADRID AND CATALONIA LEAD THE CREATION OF COMPANIES
The communities with the largest number of mercantile companies created in August were the Community of Madrid (1,336), Cataluña (1,082) and Andalucía (932). On the contrary, the ones that created the least number of companies were La Rioja (35), Cantabria (54) and Navarra (68). The largest interannual increases in the creation of mercantile companies corresponded to Cantabria (+ 38.5%), Extremadura (+ 23.7%) and Navarra (+ 19.3%), while the greatest setbacks occurred in Galicia (- 20.7%), Catalonia (-16.6%) and Aragón (-16.5%). Attending to the dissolved mercantile companies, those that presented greater number are Community of Madrid (445), Andalusia (164) and Castilla-La Mancha (125).
On the other hand, those that register the least dissolved companies are Navarra (7), La Rioja (12) and Extremadura (16).
