The CPI closes 2018 at 1.2% after a sharp decline in the final straight of the year

The consumer price index (CPI) closed 2018 at 1.2% year-on-year, after having moderated by more than one point in the last two months of the year.

The National Institute of Statistics (INE) has confirmed today the inflation data of last December, which is five tenths below that of November as a result of the drop in the prices of fuels, especially diesel and gasoline.

Although year-on-year inflation has practically halved in the last two months of the year (from 2.3% in October), the closing of 2018 at 1.2% is one tenth more than at the end of 2017 (1 ,one %).
