The Criminal Court number seven of Seville has sentenced Francisco Javier García, known as El Cuco and already convicted of covering up in 2009 the murder of the young woman from Seville, Marta del Castillo, and her mother, to two and a half years in prison for a crime of false testimony committed in their respective appearances as witnesses in the trial held in 2011 against the adults accused of said crime.

After the first session of the trial held against them on May 26 and 27, both recognized the facts contained in the Prosecutor's indictment but chose not to answer questions, the sentence sentenced them to two years and imprisonment for false testimony, as well as a fine of six months, with a daily rate of eight euros.

The representation of the parents of Marta del Castillo had asked the court to deduce testimony against them for a new crime against moral integrity, under the premise that by acknowledging in a "generic and abstract" manner the facts of the indictment of the Prosecutor's Office and not answering questions, the defendants would have once again "fooled Justice" and the victim's family, further increasing their suffering.

As civil liability, they must compensate "jointly and severally" each of Marta del Castillo's parents with 15,000 euros, as stated in the sentence issued by the Criminal Court number 7.
