Consulting firms entered more than 13,700 million euros in 2018, 5.9% more than a year before, in a sector that has been growing at a rate of more than 5% since 2014, according to the president of the Association of Consulting Companies, Elena Salgado.
The sector employed 186,000 people at the end of 2018, 9.4% more than in 2017, with a high percentage of graduates in disciplines of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) and in its entirety full-time and indefinite.
The sector obtains most of its turnover (10.7 billion, 6.8% more) in Spain and its main areas of activity are the financial sector and public administrations.
Elena Salgado highlighted in a meeting with the media that the growth of the sector has always been higher than GDP, and dedicates 2.8% of its income to innovation, more than double the average investment in Spain and even higher than the average. European average.
In addition, he highlighted that 30% of the projects carried out by Spanish consultants incorporated technologies such as data analysis ("big data"), cybersecurity, automation, robotization and cloud computing ("cloud computing").
