The construction of the tunnel of line 1 of the Quito metro ends



The mayor of Quito, Mauricio Rodas, informed today that he has completed the construction of the tunnel of line 1 of the Quito metro, the first of its kind in the country and that has been carried out by the Spanish firm Acciona.

After describing the event as "historic for Quito," he explained that it has also completed civil works in fourteen of the fifteen subway stations.

It is expected that by the end of 2019 Metro Line 1 will come into operation.

Last September the first train arrived in Ecuador, of the 18 that will have the metro line, which will allow citizen mobilization from Quitumbe (south) to El Labrador (north), or vice versa, in 34 minutes.

Each subway train has 6 wagons and has a length of more than 109 meters, with 144 seats, wide corridors and access to Wi-Fi for the benefit of the users, according to the Municipality.
