The Las Palmas conservatories claim equality with a great festive batukada to which they have invited to participate to the profesorado and alumnado of all the musical organizations of Gran Canaria, as well as to the public in general.
On Friday, February 22 at 5:00 p.m. in the Alameda de Colón of LPGC is called the Batukada for Equality.
It is a way of claiming equality with music and celebrating the Carnival of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria within the theme chosen for this year: 'Una noche en Río'. "The musical collectives join this event to show that music equals us as human beings over any other difference," they explain in the press release of the call for the event.
With this action, students and professors of the conservatory intend to call the atention on "the obstacles that hinder effective equality despite the apparent equality of opportunities between men and women".
They will read during the batukada the winning phrase of the flute student, 11 years old, Laia Blanch Díaz, presented in the I Contest of Phrases for the Equality of Gender in Music, organized by the Equality Area of the conservatories.
They also inform that the act coincides at this time with the pre-registration campaign LPGC Professional Music Conservatory which ends on February 28, 2019. Therefore, they invite anyone interested to register through the web: www.conservatoriodelaspalmas.es.
