The committee of La Naval asks the governments to buy the shipyard
The works council of La Naval de Sestao (Vizcaya), today asked the central and Basque governments to buy the shipyard, as any private investor could, as this "is not prohibited by the European Union and would not be considered as aid from State".
This has been maintained by the secretary of the works committee of the shipyard Juanjo Llordén, during the reading of the statement that concluded the demonstration held today in Bilbao to demand solutions for La Naval, in the process of insolvency bankruptcy for a year, to avoid its closure and the dismissal of its 177 workers.
Jordén has stressed in his speech before the hundreds of protesters who have supported the convocation of the works committee, that "we are not here asking for help", but demand "a new industrial project for the shipyard that includes a viability plan" and its purchase by the Basque and Spanish governments.
Speaking to the media before starting the march, Jordén, has revealed that, from next December 7, according to the Shipyard's Liquidation Plan, "either of the two governments can make an offer, buy it with a private investor from accompaniment and a viability plan ".
"In this way, he added, it would be perfectly possible to save some 3,000 jobs in the Left Bank."
The demonstration, convened by the works council and supported by the parties EH Bildu, Podemos, PP and PSE / EE, and the UGT union and the Pensioners Movement of Bizkaia, has gone through the Gran Vía de Bilbao until concluding in the square of the Arriaga Theater.
After a banner with the slogan "La Naval ez itxi, for the job in Ezkerraldea", the demonstrators have chanted different slogans against the closure of the shipyard, demanding the involvement of the Basque and Spanish governments to avoid its definitive closure.
In the march, different political leaders participated, such as the general coordinator of EH Bildu, Arnaldo Otegi; the general secretary of Podemos Euskadi, Lander Martínez; Secretary of Popular Movement of Podemos, Rafa Mayoral; the secretary general of the PP, Amaya Fernández, the parliamentarian of the PSE / EE, Jose Antonio Pastor, and the mayor of Sestao, Josu bergara (of the PNV).
