The management and the committee of Nissan de Barcelona will meet next Wednesday with the mediation of the Generalitat to address the conflict that keeps the activity in the factory paralyzed by an indefinite strike that has been going for 15 days.
The meeting has been convened after all public administrations, both the Government and the Generalitat and Barcelona City Council, have appealed to the Japanese multinational in recent days to sit down and talk to the unions.
Sources from the Nissan works council in Barcelona have explained to EFE that at the meeting they will continue “demanding guarantees of employment and future” for the plants of the automobile company in Catalonia.
The Nissan unions have so far insisted that they would carry the indefinite strike to the end to pressure the multinational to clarify its future plans for Barcelona, fearing that the company has already made the decision to close its centers in Catalonia and move production to France.
On the other hand, the committee will also hold a videoconference meeting on May 25 with the Ministry of Industry, according to the same sources.
The committee today again urged public administrations to take the necessary steps before the Nissan leadership in Japan to ensure that the Catalan plants are not closed, which could leave some 23,000 workers on the street, including direct and indirect employees. .
