The coin with the controversial image of Princess Leonor goes out to the street today

Today will be available to the public in banks and other credit institutions the 30 euro coin commemorating the 1,300 anniversary of the Kingdom of Asturias, where appears for the first time an effigy of Princess Leonor, which has been the subject of controversy for its Apparent lack of realism.

The obverse shows the left profile of the heiress of the Crown next to that of Felipe VI and, when this new collection coin was presented last July, the image received criticism because, unlike the effigy of his father, it was difficult to recognize in she the authentic features of the Princess of Asturias.

The National Factory of Currency and Stamp (FNMT) had planned to mint a maximum of one million of these new silver and copper coins, which on their reverse reproduce, in color, the Principality's coat of arms on a ribbon with the colors of the flag of Spain, accompanied by the legend "1,300 anniversary of the Kingdom of Asturias" in a circular sense.

"Felipe VI and Leonor Princess of Asturias" is, on the other hand, the legend that surrounds on the obverse the effigies of the King and the heiress of the Crown, together with the word "Spain" and the year of minting "2018".
