The National Securities Market Commission (CNMV) obtained a net profit of 21 million euros in 2018, 1.1% more than a year earlier, according to the accounts of the supervisor that this Thursday publishes the Official State Gazette (BOE) .

In a note, the CNMV has explained that it is expected that this surplus, as in previous years, be entered into the Public Treasury.

Regarding the accounts, at the end of 2018 the CNMV obtained a total income of 65.3 million euros, 2.3% higher than in 2017, while expenses amounted to 44.3 million, 2.8% higher.

According to the agency, the most relevant item in the chapter on expenses, which accounts for 70% of the total, corresponded to those of personnel, which increased 4% to 31 million euros.

This growth, added the CNMV, was mainly due to the general salary increase established in the General State Budget Law and the start of the process of incorporating new employees into the body corresponding to the increase in workforce that was launched in 2017

The published report also includes the remuneration of the top officials of the CNMV, including its president, Sebastián Albella, who earned 15,803 euros, compared to 152,328 euros last year.

The vice president of the CNMV, Ana María Martínez Pina, received a similar amount, 15,801 euros.
