The Claret School of Barcelona, founded in 1871, has separated one of its teachers and has taken to the Office of the Prosecutor the case released last weekend through social networks by an alumnus, who accuses the religious of having touched her genitals during an end-of-term trip to Menorca 20 years ago. The center has also brought the facts to the attention of the Department of Education of the Generalitat of Catalonia.
According to the complaint of Pau Bosch, the teacher took the bite of an insect to make him shower and, when drying, have an inappropriate behavior with him. After the testimony of this former student, others joined the complaints against the religious with new examples of abuse.
The reaction of the school has been very fast. In a statement sent yesterday to parents, the center explains that "last weekend" learned by several mentions in social networks of the story exposed by a former student, Pau Bosch, who "imputed an inappropriate attitude to the Claretian and former teacher , Father Francesc Figueres ".
The school's management assures that "it had never received any information about these accusations" and, after hearing the case, decided "to inform the provincial government of the Claretians". These, the note explains, "activated the current protocol since 2005", which includes "a preliminary internal consultation to assess the possible veracity of the facts and their scope".
According to the protocol, and to ensure "maximum prevention in the protection of children, and respecting at all times the presumption of innocence, on Sunday, February 10, the Claretian provincial" decided "as a precautionary measure to remove all activity with minors to Father Figueres and of all face-to-face activities in the facilities with school activities with students ".
The next day, add the address, "the school decided to bring all available information about the case to the Prosecutor's Office", with whom it is open to "provide any information or action that may help to investigate and clarify the facts."
In the note, the center's management reiterates its "commitment to the defense and protection of children" and cites as an example its "commitment to comprehensive education in all emotional and affective aspects", as well as "workshops held since 2016 with the Vicki Bernardet Foundation ", a reference in the prevention and awareness against sexual abuse of minors.
