The claims against the bank were reduced by 51% in 2018

The Bank of Spain received 19,695 claims in 2018, 51% less than the 40,176 registered a year earlier, when they reached record highs due mainly to the increase in claims related to mortgage loan formalization expenses.

According to the Claims Report of 2018 published this Wednesday by the Bank of Spain, the majority of claims filed last year by financial customers were related to mortgage loans, which represented 54% of the total (compared to 81.4% in 2017). ), followed by accounts and deposits (14.5%) and cards (9.5%).

Of the total claims presented, 6,708 were resolved, of which 4,706 (70.16%) concluded with a favorable result for the claimant, and 2,002 to the financial entity.

As a result of these claims, in 2018 the bank returned a total of 2.63 million euros to customers, with an average amount of 392.7 euros.
