The building control technicians of the City of Madrid work this Saturday to consolidate the building in which yesterday an explosion was recorded, apparently by a gas leak, in the Puente de Vallecas district.
Seventeen people were slightly injured this Friday by an explosion recorded on the top floor of a thirteen-storey building, located at number 17 on Pablo Neruda Street.
Firefighters worked until after midnight to clean up the five buildings that were damaged, a spokeswoman for Emergencies Madrid told Efe.
Now, the tasks of the technicians of Control of the Building are focused on unloading the structure and the slabs of the last two floors of the building, which were destroyed by the explosion, have indicated to Efe sources of the Madrilenian Consistory.
Of the seventeen slightly injured, three were treated for anxiety crisis, one suffered burns and the rest had bruises and contusions.
The explosion caused the fall of many debris to the street, which damaged not only part of the facades of nearby buildings, but also many cars parked on public roads.
The last floor of the building in which the detonation occurred was exposed, without some walls.
A total of 82 families slept outside their homes as a result of the event. 78 of them live in the building where the explosion took place, another three live in a second building and another family in a third building.
Only two families required emergency shelter last night, managed by the Social Samur, while the rest of the neighbors affected by the explosion spent the night in the homes of relatives or friends.
