The Center of Plastic Arts promotes three artistic workshops for young people – La Provincia

The Department of Plastic Arts of the Ministry of Culture of the Cabildo Grancanario organizes three free art workshops that will be held during the month of October at its headquarters located at number 8 on Colón Street, in the historic district of Vegueta. To attend them you have to formalize a previous registration since the places are limited, whose period opens on October 14, by calling the contact number of the Center for Plastic Arts (928 339 191) during the morning of 9: 00 to 14:00 hours.

The three workshops are Adventures on the blue planet, which will be taught by the creator Elia Verona; The eye, the mind, the hand, which will be tutored by Laura González, and The illustrated erotic poetry book, which will also be taught by Elia Verona.

The first of them, Adventures on the Blue Planet, is held on October 19 and 26 and on November 9, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and is intended for children between 6 and 12 years old. In it, Elia Verona will try to make the participants travel with the power of their imagination to various natural scenarios through their images and words, looking for ways to help the planet recover from the situation of environmental crisis In which it is found. It is a workshop of travels, of knowledge, of generating unpublished, fantastic and imaginative proposals to save the biodiversity of the blue planet.

In it, a different story will be chosen for each day, the choice of which responds to the technique used to illustrate it from each of the selected authors. Thus, on October 19, we choose The Rabbit Tales, from the publishing house Malas Compañías. For October 26, Verona will opt for Simon's Orchard, from the Kalandraka publishing house. Finally, for the session on November 9, the artist will propose to the participants the title The owner of the light, from the Ekaré publishing house.

The second of the workshops, The eye, the mind, the hand, is intended for people over 16 years and will take place on October 17, 18, 24 and 25, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Given the incessant and rapid avalanche of images that we are accustomed to consume and in which we collaborate with its proliferation, this workshop taught by Laura González is proposed as a space to stop and "see acting". It is an approach to graphic and pictorial production from another place where experience, process, method is prioritized, to the final image that would circulate as a record of the action taken.

According to the creator, "for this we will create and explore several of the necessary conditions that allow the appearance of an image in spite of our will (thought). These will exclude the virtuosity of the technique and move us away from the tyranny of the result, proposing a collective work On the other hand, emphasis will be placed on the importance of the attention that should be sustained by any free and therefore conscious act We will create slogans to intervene in the surfaces according to the limits imposed (paper, matter, color, time, available space and contiguity of the other) and we will exercise in observing the details of the gesture as if we were learning to write for the first time. "

Finally, the Cabildo Plastic Arts Center proposes the workshop called The illustrated erotic poetry book intended for people over 18 years which, directed by Elia Verona, is celebrated on October 29 and 30, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

The workshop is a multidisciplinary proposal that invites participants to enjoy floating their creativity. Throughout two sessions the participants they will read and build erotic poems, will illustrate them with collage and learn easy techniques to bind them with recycled carton. No prior knowledge is necessary. Enrollees may bring their own erotic poems or those of their favorite authors and authors.

In the first place an approach to erotic poetry is proposed through poets from different eras inviting to play to build short poems with easy and playful dynamics. These texts will be illustrated mainly through the collage technique. Through cartonera binding techniques they will take shape until they become a book that will contain numerous illustrated erotic poems.
