The CDN cancels "A look at the world" by Declan Donellan for the coronavirus

The National Institute of Performing Arts (INAEM), under the Ministry of Culture, today announced the cancellation of the planned performances at the Teatro Valle Inclán in Madrid (National Dramatic Center) of "The revenger's tragedy" ("A look at the world" ) from Declan Donellan due to the coronavirus.

In a statement issued today the INAEM explains that the decision has been taken in accordance with the indications of the General Directorate of Public Health, Innovation and Quality of the Ministry of Health, given that it is a production of the Piccolo Theater of Milan in Collaboration with the English Cheek by Jowl, Donellan's company.

The performances were scheduled on March 11, 12, 13 and 14. INAEM recalls in its note that Milan is one of the "areas of the world in which the transmission of the virus has been verified" and for which the Italian authorities have adopted more stringent measures, including the prohibition of entry and exit of the same.

"A look at the world" was the first Italian production of Donellan and Nick Ormerod, artistic co-directors of Cheek by Jowl, a play by playwright Thomas Middleton that combines intrigue, corruption, lust, narcissism and the desire for power in a "very contemporary" court 17th century Italian.

The assembly was created specifically for the Piccolo Theater in Milan and was staged by a cast of Italian performers who presented it successfully in that country during the 2018-2019 season.
