The International Convention Center of Barcelona (CCIB), one of the largest congress venues in southern Europe and managed by GL Events, has beaten a
billing with 37.2 million euros in 2018, 11.5% more than in 2017. The revenues obtained represent 6.8% of the initial budget and an improvement of 3.1% compared to the record reached in 2007, when They invoiced 36 million euros.
In an official notice, the CCIB has specified that in the last year the activity of the enclosure has generated more than 500 places of work full-time, an economic impact of 469 million euros in Barcelona and 478,000 hotel overnight stays.

The entity has attributed the results to loyalty (more than 50% of customers re-trust the CCIB in the next edition) and internationalization, which accounts for 87% of turnover. The CCIB has assured that the forecasts indicate that in 2019 the center will beat a new record.
In 2018, the center hosted a total of 119 events with 543,451 visitors and delegates, 14% more than in 2017, and since the beginning of its activity, the CCIB has hosted 1,376 events for which more than 6.29 million have passed. of attendees.
The entity has more than a hundred confirmations until 2021
63% of the events are of national origin and 37% international, although "the international market provides the largest, longest and most attended events".
Specifically, the site has hosted international medical and pharmaceutical competitions such as ESHRE on human reproduction and embryology, ESTRO of radiotherapy and oncology or ISPOR on health care, which have counted with the participation of 11,500, 6,100 and 5,500 experts, respectively.
Among the major business appointments, the seventh edition of the Gartner ITxpo Symposium stands out, one of the great gatherings of Information Technology analysts, which had 9,000 attendees, and the conventions of companies such as Dockercon and Huawei. The CCIB already has more than a hundred events confirmed until 2021.
In 15 years, the site has had an economic impact of 4,445 million euros and 5.8 million overnight stays, and in total GL has invested 16 million in modernizing the facilities.
