The Canary Islands is the eighth region with the highest number of hospitalizations in seven days

The Canary Islands have registered 93 admissions due to coronavirus in the last seven days, which makes it the eighth region with the highest number of hospitalizations in this time space, behind Aragon (108); Galicia (109); Asturias (115); Castile and Leon (122); Catalonia (139); Madrid (327); and Andalusia (353). This is reflected in the latest report released yesterday by the Ministry of Health, which also reveals that the community that presents the best data is the Basque Country (5), followed by La Rioja (12) and Castilla La Mancha (15).

Until yesterday, 383 people were in hospital admission in the Archipelago, of which 312 remained in Covid plants and 71 in intensive care units (ucis). The greatest healthcare pressure is supported by Tenerife, with 189 patients occupying an acute bed and 35 in critical areas, compared to the 105 in the hospital floors of Gran Canaria and the 25 who are in intensive care.

As reported by the Ministry of Health of the regional executive, The region added 218 infections this Thursday and regretted two deaths in Tenerife. The deceased, two 75-year-old men, had previous pathologies. These new deaths bring the number of deaths produced in the Archipelago to 639 as a result of the effects of the pathogen.

52.6% Active in Tenerife

  • Tenerife has 2,164 active cases, which represents 52.5% of the 4,117 in the autonomous community. Yesterday, the island added 90 infections.

337 Discharges in one day

  • In the course of 24 hours, 337 epidemiological discharges were issued in the Canary Islands. In the Archipelago, 39,455 people have already overcome the disease.

Taking into account the data disaggregated by islands, Tenerife added 94 patients to its statistics yesterday and it already has 18,611 accumulated cases and 2,164 active, which represents 52.6% of the total that the autonomous community brings together (4,117). For its part, Gran Canaria found 87 new infections that amount its general record to 18,191. On the island there are 1,605 patients suffering from the condition.

Lanzarote, However, added 12 infections and already has 4,547 accumulated clinical pictures and 83 epidemiologically active, while Fuerteventura added 24 and figures its accumulated in 1,895 and in 232 its assets.

Both La Palma and El Hierro managed to keep their data unchanged. Thus, the first continues with 444 accumulated and 21 assets, and the second, with 300 and six, respectively. By last, La Gomera scored a contagion and its accumulated reaches 223. In total there are six people suffering from the disease on the island.

Since the last balance, 337 registrations have been issued in the Canary Islands, so there are already 39,455 patients who have managed to win the battle against the virus. Most have been registered in the municipality of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, which has found 14,118 since the outbreak of the pandemic.

Based on the information handled by the health administration, So far, 923,498 Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) tests have been carried out in the Archipelago. Only during last Wednesday 3,251 were practiced among the population. Of the total, 5.26% –48,603– have shown a positive result in the infection.
