The Canary Islands invests eight million to promote vocational training and centers for adults

The Ministry of Education, Universities, Culture and Sports of the Government of the Canary Islands, through the General Directorate of Professional Training and Adult Education, carried out in the last quarter of 2020 the extraordinary release of funds amounting to eight million euros, with destined to Integrated Vocational Training Centers, Secondary Education Institutes that provide vocational training and sports education, Official Language Schools, Art and Design Higher Schools, Music Conservatories, Adult Education Centers and Distance Education Centers of the Archipelago.

These are two financial grants, one for two million euros and the other for six million, aimed at promoting and improving the quality of these teachings. The counselor, Manuela Armas, has highlighted the effort made by her department in order to increase investment in the qualification of these training options and pointed out that “strengthening VET is a priority objective of this government team.”

The general director of Vocational Training and Adult Education, Rosario Gañán, has stated in the same vein, who considers that a more practical learning offer adapted to the demands of the labor market “constitutes a fundamental element in the economic reconstruction of our community , inasmuch as the students finish their studies with the experience and the capacity to join the professional practice the next day ”.

The eight million euros to improve Vocational Training and the rest of the aforementioned specialties will be used to meet the expenses caused by special educational needs, training projects and actions, purchase of material and repair and updating of teaching equipment in these public educational centers non-university students from the Canary Islands.
