The Canary Islands have administered a total of 3,955,948 doses of vaccines against COVID-19



The Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands informs that the vaccination teams of the Canary Health Service have administered until yesterday a total of 3,955,948 doses of vaccines against COVID-19. In the Archipelago there are already 1,802,824 people who have received at least one dose, which represents 85.94 percent of the target population in which children between 5 and 11 years of age have been included.

In addition, until yesterday it had been possible to immunize 1,699,148 people who have already received the complete vaccination schedule, which represents 81 percent of the target population of the Archipelago.

On the other hand, 56,586 doses of this vaccine have already been inoculated in the pediatric population between 5 and 11 years old, this means that 41.33 percent of that age group has already received the first dose.

At present, groups 1 to 7 (residents and healthcare and socio-healthcare staff in nursing homes; healthcare staff; large dependents and main caregivers; vulnerable people; groups with essential functions such as teachers and police officers and people with very high-risk conditions) and the 9 (population aged between 50 and 59 years that has already reached that percentage) are already vaccinated with two doses between 99.5 and 100%.

At rest of groups by age, The situation is the following:

group 8. People between 60 and 65 years old: 84.30 percent with at least one dose and 69.95 percent with a complete regimen.

group 10. People between 40 and 49 years old: 61.46% with at least one dose and 88.30% with a complete regimen (including those immunized with Janssen, which was originally a single-dose vaccine).

group 11. People between 30 and 39 years old: 67.90 percent with at least one dose and 64.74 percent with a complete regimen.

group 12. People between 20 and 29 years old: 64.47 percent with a dose and 59.63 percent with a complete regimen.

Group 13. People between 12 and 19 years old: 82.36 percent with a dose and 79.51 percent with a complete regimen.

group 14. People between 5 and 11 years old: 56,586 people have received at least one dose, 41.33 percent.

591,787 booster doses

Of this total number of doses administered, 591,787 correspond to booster doses against the coronavirus. Booster doses are indicated for people over 40 years of age; for those vaccinated with AstraZeneca, with Janssen (regardless of age); and for health personnel of Primary and Hospital Care; health and social workers in public and private centers for the elderly and disabled; people hospitalized in disability care centers, patients with high-risk conditions and those receiving treatment with immunosuppressive drugs.
