The Canary Islands Government has made the visiting regime more flexible for family members admitted to residences for the elderly and people with disabilities, once the process of vaccination of its users and workers, according to an order from the Health and Social Policies departments published this Saturday in the Official Gazette of the Canary Islands.
On the islands with alert levels 1 and 2, if the resident has completed their vaccination, You have the right to receive up to three weekly visits of no more than one hour, by appointment, expandable according to the characteristics of each center, by up to two people simultaneously, within a maximum group of ten different visitors per resident.
In the case of the islands in alert levels 3 and 4, up to two weekly visits of a duration not exceeding one hour are authorized in the case of vaccinated residents.
In addition, at alert levels 1 and 2, in the case of vaccinated people, “departures and overnight stays will be allowed without time limitation except for those collected by the center’s own organization”, as well as “departures that are part of the activities of psychosocial rehabilitation and personal autonomy “.
If the alert level is 3 and 4, “exits will only be allowed to outdoor spaces, for an unlimited time in an alert level 3, avoiding in level 4, except for therapeutic walks.”
Non-vaccinated residents may have at least one weekly visit of one hour at all levels, but only by one person and in specific areas differentiated from those vaccinated.
In the case of elderly residents not vaccinated and at alert level 1, departures will be allowed for a limited time, departures that are part of psychosocial rehabilitation activities and personal autonomy are allowed, and daytime departures to family homes are allowed.
At alert level 2 for unvaccinated residents, exits are allowed only to outdoor spaces, for a limited time, exits that are part of psychosocial rehabilitation activities and personal autonomy are allowed, with limited time according to the type of activity, and they discourage going out to the family home
For those not vaccinated in residences at alert levels 3 or 4, departures will be avoided except for therapeutic walks and trips to the family home will be avoided.
The order establishes that in general they will not be carried out diagnostic tests upon departure and re-entry of vaccinated residents, while in the case of the unvaccinated, it will be decided based on the profile of the departure and the epidemiological situation of the island.
For new admissions, vaccination will be guaranteed sufficiently in advance.
In the case of sheltered homes and functional homes, they will be subject to the regulations in force at all times for the general population.
The centers and other residential establishments must adapt their protection protocols to the criteria and new measures established in the Government order within ten days.
These new measures “are subject to the epidemiological changes that may occur, so that an increase in cases or transmission patterns would force their modification or adaptation with the priority objective of guaranteeing the health of the population “.
