The Canary Islands are working on a rule to establish restrictions against the pandemic

The Government of the Canary Islands is working on the legal and health aspects of a regulation that determines what restrictions and measures can be adopted to stop the spread of the pandemic in the archipelago, has announced the president of the Canary Islands, Angel Victor Torres.

The Superior Court of Justice of the Canary Islands He rejected some of the measures proposed by the Government, such as the curfew or the restriction of access to the interior of establishments only to those vaccinated, while he approved others related to capacity, Torres recalled.

Therefore, the Government analyzes "from a legal and health point of view what we can do" and for this, the situation in other autonomous communities is studied, for example.

The intention is that the Canary Islands Governing Council can pass that standard in mid-August.

The restrictive measures used to stop previous waves, such as those registered last summer, at Christmas or Week "are successful," Torres has defended.

The target is to contain the pandemic and face the next few months, which "are key" for the economy of the islands in a better situation, due to the high tourist season in the autumn and winter months, the president stressed after the meeting of his Advisory Council , made up of representative business and union organizations in the Canary Islands.

The latest data on the epidemiological situation of the archipelago indicate that, apparently, the contagion curve is beginning to bend, although in Gran Canaria they continue to be highTorres has assured.

Thus, has expressed its confidence that the downward trend will consolidate, which together with greater vaccination, would allow the current wave of infections to be left behind.

During the meeting of the Advisory Council, the Budget of the Autonomous Community for 2022, which will be "expansive and will grow 5 percent more than in 2021," said the Canarian president, although it is still too early to specify more data on the accounts.

In this regard, the president of the Canarian Confederation of Entrepreneurs, Agustín Manrique de Lara, has highlighted the need for budgets to be "realistic" and to meet deficit targets, something that will probably be done, because it has already been the case in previous years.

Manrique de Lara has asked that investment in the private sector be increased in order to reactivate the economy, and that administrative procedures be streamlined to ensure that European reactivation funds reach entrepreneurs.

Torres has also referred to the meeting that he is expected to hold next week with the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, during his holidays in Lanzarote.

It will be an "informal" meeting that does not replace the official meeting that he will hold with him before the end of the year as president of the Canary Islands, nor the meeting of the next Conference of Presidents scheduled for the next few years, which perhaps is held in the archipelago after Torres' offer to do so.

During the meeting with SánchezTorres will address various issues with him, such as the General State Budgets for 2022 or the Canarian agenda, among others.
