The trade unions Front Sindical Obrero de Canarias (FSO) and Sindicalistas de Base de Canarias have come together to give birth to the Canarian Trade Union Federation after the celebration this Sunday of the
I Congress of this organization, who has chosen
Daniel Casal as General Secretary.

In a statement, the new formation has ensured that it is a "historic date" for the Canarian union movement after the birth of this new organization which, according to its leaders, is called to "join other groups and unions to build a reference union alternative for the working class and the people of the Canary Islands".

The inaugural Congress was held at the Expo Meloneras Auditorium in Maspalomas, in the south of Gran Canaria, with the
attendance of 300 delegates, 150 elected by each unionand in it the congressional document and the statutes of the Canarian Trade Union Federation were unanimously approved.

The Canarian Trade Union Federation defined among its objectives to be
"as soon as possible" the most representative union in the Canary Islands and hold the rights established by law in terms of participation in social agreement with the Government of the Canary Islands, as well as expand representation in collective bargaining in the Canary Islands.

«The Canarian Trade Union Federation was born as the first union in the Hospitality sector in the Canary Islands and the condition of sufficiently representative trade union in the Canary Islands, which directly leads the FSC to form part of the
Negotiating Tables of both sectors at the state level«, add the note.

The Trade Union Federation was born with more than 1,400 delegates and more than 8,000 affiliates and with the desire to be
«a Canarian alternative to becoming the first union in the Canary Islands in the future that leads to social consultation and collective bargaining, the firm defense of the labor, social and wage rights of the entire working class of the Canary Islands«.
