The Ministry of Agriculture of the Government of the Canary Islands has called for aid from the Community Support Program for Agricultural Production in the archipelago (POSEI) for the production of aloe vera and olive trees, for which they have
a total budget of 83,151 euros.

Thus, the maximum unit amount of the aid reaches 500 euros per hectare for the two subactions, with producers who own farms located in the Canary Islands being able to benefit from these funds, as reported by the regional Executive in a press release.

The main purpose of this call is to
support productions oriented to the internal market, especially adapted to the arid zones of the Canary Islandsto thus contribute to the diversification of regional agriculture and soil maintenance in order to avoid desertification.

In this regard, the General Director of Agriculture of the Government of the Canary Islands, Augusto Hernández, has highlighted "the reinforcement and importance of the undertaking of aloe vera and olive farms", pointing out that they "power the islands to increase their self-sufficiency to less dependence on foreign products. He added that this will allow producers to see their work reflected in the "consolidation of the primary sector and its economy."

Besides
a 10 percent aid supplement will be paid of the amounts that may correspond to the beneficiaries who have received the aid for the installation of young farmers from the Rural Development Program (PDR) in the campaign in competition (2022) or in any of the previous four, as well as who maintain said condition in 2022.

The presentation of applications to benefit from these grants ends on May 8, and must be done electronically through the link:
