The Cabildo closes the Day Centers to guarantee the safety of users

The Cabildo of Lanzarote yesterday decreed the closure and suspension of the activity of all the Day Centers that depend on its management. The president of the institution, María Dolores Corujo, explained that this decision "complementary to those already adopted by the health authorities" is motivated by the worrying increase in infections by Covid-19 registered in Lanzarote and with the aim of protecting the group of elders and other users of these facilities.

Corujo pointed out that this complementary measure will be extended as long as the current contagion index is maintained, although exceptions will be established in the case of those people who, due to their special circumstances, require the care provided in the centers ". In this line, he guaranteed that the management of the Centers themselves will adopt the necessary measures so that the professionals at their service are in contact and at the disposal of users and their families.

The closure and suspension of activities affects a total of six Day Centers, which are those of Tías, Haría, San Roque, Las Cabreras, La Graciosa, the Psychosocial Rehabilitation Center (CRPS). It also affects the Center for People with Mental Disabilities (Third Person Need Center and Occupational Center); to the Julio Santiago Obeso Rehabilitation Unit and to the Service for the Promotion of Personal Autonomy and Service for the Promotion of Personal Autonomy in Early Care.

Likewise, Corujo appealed yesterday after visiting the Doctor José Molina Orosa Hospital with the Minister of Health to the collective responsibility of the population in the face of the delicate health situation that the Island is currently experiencing.
