The Electoral Board of Barcelona Zone has banned an act of the city council to explain the improvements undertaken in the Park Güell in Barcelona, as well as carry out any official opening, following a complaint filed by Junts.
In its letter, the Board maintains that the act planned for today at Park Güell, in which the councilor of Gràcia, Eloi Badia, was to explain the reforms of the surroundings of the emblematic site, constitutes "a violation" of the Law article Organic General Electoral System that prohibits the inauguration of works or services during the election period.
For this reason, the Board orders the Barcelona City Council to refrain from carrying out the presentation of Park Güell, "as well as any other inaugural act during the electoral period."
The agreement of the Provincial Zone Board can be appealed to the Central, although the Barcelona City Council has already announced that it suspends the act in the Park Güell that had scheduled for this morning.
The resolution of the Board recalls that, during the electoral period, institutional inaugurations by authorities are prohibited, as well as those "allusions to the achievements or achievements" of the same.
