The Basque Government withdraws its budgets by failing an agreement with EH Bildu

The Basque Government will hold an extraordinary council in the early hours of Thursday morning to withdraw the draft budget from its processing in the Parliament of Vitoria.

This decision, announced by the Basque Executive at 00.00 today, comes after the failure of the negotiations that he has maintained in the last weeks with EH Bildu and that have focused on the complement of the lowest pensions through the Income Guarantee Income.

Finally, the Basque Government and EH Bildu have not reached an agreement and the Executive has complied with the ultimatum of the Minister of Finance and Economy, Pedro Azpiazu, to end the negotiation process this midnight.

The Executive of Iñigo Urkullu has explained that as "he has not received a response from the EH Bildu parliamentary group to his final offer," the Governing Council will agree to withdraw the budget project, although "it will continue working to respond to the needs of Basque society with a budget extension. "

In this way, the Extraordinary Governing Council will meet at 8 a.m. to withdraw the project and the debate on the partial amendments presented by the groups will not take place in Parliament.

The regional government must therefore extend the accounts this year for the next as the groups that support it, PNV and PSE-EE, are in the minority in the House and need, at least, the abstention of an opposition group to take them forward.

In the last two years the regional government has approved its budgets thanks to the abstention of the PP.
