The main Spanish banks have removed from their websites the available information on mortgages, waiting for the Supreme Court to clarify whether it is the entity or the client that should be responsible for the tax associated with these credits.
As Efe has learned, some Spanish banks are reviewing the conditions of the mortgage loans, and are not offering this information in their offices, although they have not suspended the signature of mortgages that was already planned.
The commercial strategy on mortgages of the bank is awaiting the decision adopted by the Supreme Court.
The president of the High Court, Carlos Lesmes, will meet today with the magistrates who on Thursday dictated the sentence that established that the bank, and not its clients, should take charge of the payment of the tax of legal acts documented in the signature of a mortgage .
According to sources confirmed by the Supreme Court, this internal meeting will only serve to analyze the situation created after the aforementioned ruling, and of the subsequent note, in which the Court convened a plenary meeting of the contentious magistrates.
