The awakening of fair trade in Spain faces the nightmare of the crisis




The shopping basket of Spanish families is increasingly respectful of the environment. Products certified as fair trade are little by little more common in pantries and tables of a society that is increasingly aware –but not enough– of the need to consume products that have been produced in a sustainable process, not only environmentally but also economically and socially. That is to say, a “quality” item, priced fairly and made by workers with “decent” working conditions.

This increase in demand was reflected in 2019, when the sale of products with the Fairtrade certification seal in Spain
