The AP-6 toll will go up twice as much as the rest of the highways

The AP-6 motorway toll linking Villalba (Madrid) and Adanero (Ávila), which includes the Guadarrama tunnel, will go up a 1.69% As of January 1, they informed Europa Press in sources from the Ministry of Development.

The toll of this highway, which with a average traffic of 30,400 users per day It is one of the busiest in the country, thus going to double the average increase of 0.84% that will be recorded by the rest of the state payment methods under concession with the new year.

This is established by the Royal Decree approved in the Council of Ministers this Friday, which modifies the concession contract for this route that the State has with Castellana de Autopistas, a subsidiary of the Abertis group.

Under this Royal Decree, the Department in charge of acting José Luis Ábalos has authorized the concessionaire of this highway to make an additional extraordinary climb of 0.85% in its 2020 toll, but also in those of 2021 and 2022.

In this way, the circulation through the highway and the Guadarrama tunnel will register an accumulated increase of 2.55% in the next three years, which will be added to the annual increase recorded by the payment methods based on the automatic update formula with which the sector has counted since the year 2000 agreed with the Government of that time.

Under this formula, which has among its main variables the average CPI between the months of October of one year and the next and that is weighted according to the evolution of traffic, the average increase in payment methods for 2020 will be of 0.84%.

This increase does not affect the nine toll roads that broke during the crisis, rescued the State and currently manages the Ministry of Development, since they are not exploited through concession contracts.

Compensation for works

In the case of the AP-6 Villalba-Adanero, with the extraordinary increase approved by the Council of Ministers on Friday, the concessionaire of the road is compensated for the investment that has been used to carry out different works.

This was indicated to Europa Press in sources of the Ministry of Development when asked for the review that contained the reference of the Council of Ministers in this regard, which was limited to indicating the approval of a “Royal Decree by which certain terms of the concession of the AP-6, AP-51 (connection between the AP-6 and Ávila) and the AP-61 (connection of the AP-6 with Segovia) held by Castellana de Autopistas ”.

Regarding the impact of the changes in the other two routes, the AP-51 and the AP-61, these sources of development indicated that “the rates that should have entered into force on January 30, 2018 are replaced by the current rates until January 29, 2018, to which the ordinary annual increase will be applied until the end of its concession contract ”.

Promotion authorizes this extraordinary climb to Abertis for the AP-6 while maintaining a dispute with the group controlled by Atlantia and ACS regarding the subrogation of maintenance workers of the two highways of this company that conclude their contract and return to the State at the end of year, the AP-4 Seville-Cádiz and the sections of the AP-7 Tarragona-Valencia and Valencia-Alicante.
