The 25 most anticipated series of 2021

Wanting to say goodbye to 2020 definitively, in 2021 the series will be protagonists again, since the pandemic of coronavirus continues to hit hard, causing people to stay home longer.

And this brand new 2021 will once again be a year full of fiction, with new and powerful titles, as well as the next seasons of veteran and successful fiction. A year in which there will be a lot of competition, a authentic streaming platform war, especially with the expansion of services such as HBO Max, AppleTV + or Disney + that will stand up to the titans of the panorama as Netflix, Movistar + or Amazon Prime Video.

Another intense year of audiovisual production is coming with an overflowing number of titles among which we point out 25 of the most anticipated series of 2021:

1.- Cobra Kai (Netflix)

The third season of the spin-off of ‘Karate Kid’ will be one of the first series to premiere in 2021, as on January 1 it will arrive on Netflix, the platform is the new home of fiction, since it originally belonged to YouTube Red.

2.- Scarlet Witch and Vision (Wandavision) (Disney +)

On January 15, the first series of Marvel Studios will arrive for its Cinematic Universe. ‘Scarlet Witch and Vision’ will start Phase 4 of the MCU, answering questions, but also adding other unknowns.

3.- Euphoria (HBO)

On January 24th, the second part of the ‘Euphoria’ special will arrive. For the second season we will have to keep waiting.

4.- The Lord of the Rings (Amazon Prime Video)

If there is an ambitious project this year, that is the version of ‘The Lord of the Rings’ that Amazon Prime Video is preparing for this 2021. The filming is taking place in New Zealand and the casting has been partially revealed. Little else is known, although it is confirmed that the first two episodes will be directed by Juan Antonio Bayona.

5.- The mandalorian (Disney +)

In December this year, Jon Favreau announced that the third season of ‘The Mandalorian’ was already in pre-production, which suggests that the new episodes will arrive at the end of 2021. In addition, the fiction will have three spin-offs: ‘The Book of Boba Fett ‘,’ Rangers of the New Republic ‘and’ Ahsoka ‘.

6.- Succession (HBO)

The third season began shooting in mid-November, which means that the new episodes of ‘Succession’ may be ready for the second half of 2021. The series is one of the great sensations of HBO.

7.- The Intenate: The Summits (Amazon Prime Video)

9.- Falco and the winter soldier (Disney +)

The second Marvel Studios series to land in 2021 is ‘Falcon and the Winter Soldier’. The series, starring Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan and Daniel Brühl, is coming to Disney + on March 19.

10.- Mare of Easttown (HBO)

In April 2021, the thriller ‘Mare of Easttown’ will hit HBO, created by Brad Ingelsby and starring Kate Winslet.

11.- The boys (Amazon Prime Video)

Filming for the third season is scheduled to begin in February 2021 and finish in August, which will make it difficult for season three to arrive next year. Hopefully by the end of 2021.

12.- The paper house (Netflix)

The final season of ‘La casa de papel’ will be one of the essential appointments of this 2021. Will the Professor and the gang manage to get out of the Bank of Spain robbery alive? For now, Netflix still does not reveal when the long-awaited outcome will arrive.

13.- Barry (HBO)

The premiere of the third season is scheduled for May, although filming is scheduled to begin in January of this year, which could cause a delay.

16.- Stranger things (Netflix)

The first animation production to enter the Marvel Cinematic Universe is scheduled to arrive on Disney + in mid-2021.

20.- Supernormal (Movistar +)

Movistar + will premiere in 2021 the comedy ‘Supernormal’, starring Miren Ibarguren, Diego Martín and Gracia Olayo. A sitcom created and written by Marta Sánchez and Olatz Arroyo.

21.- The Witcher (Netflix)

With the filming of the second season underway, 2021 will see the return of Geralt of Rivia, Ciri, Yennefer and of course Dandelion the bard. At the moment, everything points to a powerful start, since one of the scenes from the scripts of the new batch has been known.

22.- The Handmaid’s Tale (Hulu)

The fourth season of ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ will arrive on Hulu (in the United States) in 2021. The fiction will premiere with a fifth more confirmed batch. In Spain, the series can be seen on HBO.

23.- Nine perfect strangers (Hulu)

New adaptation of another novel by Liane Moriarty, author of ‘Big Little Lies’, this production will arrive on Hulu (in the United States) in 2021 and will star Nicole Kidman, Melissa McCarthy, Luke Evans, Samara Weaving and Michael Shannon.

24.- Y: The last man (FX)

Also on Hulu, within FX, will come to the United States ‘Y: The Last Man’, adaptation of the comic by Brian K. Vaughan and Pia Guerra. The fiction stars Ben Schnetzer, Ashley Romans, Diana Bang, Diane Lane, and Oliviar Thirlby.

25.- American crime story: impeachment (FX)

Scheduled for the last US presidential elections in November, it will finally arrive (in the United States) on FX in 2021. This third installment of ‘American Crime Story’, which will address the Lewinsky scandal, which ended with an impeachment against President Bill Clinton. The previous two seasons are on Netflix.
