The 2019 labor calendar is now official: it only allows a great festive bridge throughout Spain | Economy

Next year Work calendar of Spain only holds a festive bridge in all of Spain at the same time. And many Spaniards will hardly notice it, it falls in the middle of August and there will be many people on vacation: on August 15 it falls on Thursday. The calendar is somewhat more generous if long weekends are added, two, since November 1 and December 6 will be celebrated on Friday.

In total, next year there will be eight days of celebration common to all of Spain: New Year, Good Friday (April 19), May Day, August 15, October 12, November 1, December 6 and the day of Christmas. This is one of the lowest figures allowed by the calendar and it happens because two other common holidays, the Three Kings Day and December 8, fall on a Sunday.

When this happens, a holiday falls on a Sunday, the communities can move the celebration to the following Monday. This will happen in many autonomies on January 7. As the day of Kings will fall on Sunday Castilla y León, Navarra, Aragon, Murcia, Andalusia, Madrid, Extremadura, Canary Islands, Asturias, Ceuta and Melilla have chosen to extend the holiday season one more day.

The same happens in two days of Easter and Easter, Holy Thursday and Easter Monday. Normally these days are chained four holidays, but not throughout Spain at the same time. In 2019, in Catalonia and Valencia it will be a party from Friday 19 to Monday 22 of April; in Andalusia, Asturias, Canary Islands, Extremadura, Galicia, Madrid, Murcia, Ceuta and Melilla will be from Thursday 18 to Sunday 21; in the Balearic Islands, Cantabria, Castilla La Mancha, Navarra, the Basque Country and La Rioja from Thursday 18 to Monday 22; and in Aragon and Castilla León will be a holiday from Thursday 18 to Sunday 21, but with the particularity that on Tuesday 23 both communities celebrate regional days, with which many citizens could take a bridge with Monday 22.

There are communities that have chosen to use holidays that fall this weekend to transfer them to significant days for that region, although in other years that day is not festive. This is the case of the Valencian Community with June 24, San Juan: a day of celebration in Alicante.

Longer weekends

Although only a common holiday bridge can be organized throughout Spain, there will be long weekends. This will happen on November 1 and December 6, holidays in the 17 communities that will fall on Friday, as well as in Ceuta and Melilla.

There will also be autonomies in which bridges can be organized by falling on a Tuesday or Thursday one of their holidays. In the Valencian Community they will be able to celebrate Fallas without losing many working days, since March 19 will fall on Tuesday. And in Madrid around the 1st and 2nd of May there will be someone who can organize a mini-vacation, because the calendar has shown that these days will fall on Wednesday and Thursday.
